dalai lama dharma dharamsala yoga meditation retreat Interview

By Interviewer at 04/10/08 05:31

Name of your website?

dalai lama dharma dharamsala yoga meditation retreat

Your name?

sangeeta gurung

Your Location (city, etc)

Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, India

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A Reality Travel Website on Dharamsala the Spiritual Capital of the World and Home of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. History, Culture and Environment of the India Himalayas.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Universal Teachings of Love and Compassion and Non-Violence to the World.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website launched in February, 2008.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

As this Tourist destination, Dharamsala is well known internationally as the private residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and since having 25 years as a Tourism professional in the Himalayas I decided to make a Miniguide for Dharamsala for all web surfers to experience and learn.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It is a reality destination website with the first hand experiences of people from all walks of life travelling from all parts of the world to Dharamsala..a personal growth to some of them. This miniguide gives an insight on the integrated lives and cultures of the Himalayn people, their aspirations, their initiatives to conserve their eroding culture, traditions and spiritual pursuits, their wild life and their environment from degradation. A place where all religions is practised in harmony and peace with the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My eventual goal is to bring harmony and peace in the world so that we all can work together as a Global family to conserve and respect each other as human beings, the Himalayan culture and bring in Peace and Harmony to our future generations in the future. This website is just window to our hearts which we must open for all sentient beings.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Success is not measured by time and money it is the universal message you can spread and achieve good karmas. A true balance of your wisdom and heart. That is your success.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Nothing will change, we must change by unlimited development of ourselves. There no budget for this. Yes, you do require financial support for this noble cause in the world.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, the supply of the mind and heart is more than the demand created. A correct and disciplined life can cope up with any pressure of demand and supply.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Nothing, except I live in a small village and Iam doing my tiny bit of Human work to conserve the environment, culture, natural heritage of this beautiful township. There are testing times but you can turn them around with your vision, faith and hope and ofcourse your dedication to the society and your karma-bhoomi (Your Current Place of Action).

What has been your biggest challenge?

To get after the local administration to preserve the natural fragile mountain ecology of our village - Kandi in Dharamsala. Fight for Animal care and give them homes to live in. Educate the travellers visiting Dharamsala on the Indian and Buddhist Culture of the Mountaons, specially students from abroad.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word to mouth and blogging everyday with my Dharamsala News BUZZ page. Mailing my friends everywhere round the globe.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Running my website has been an experience and a challenge to me as we do not have proper internet facilities, the power breakdowns and not to forget my other passions of writing, reading and learning more.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

This website will be one year old now and I intend going a long way even if there is no financial gains, popularity. The traffic will come if you have vision and faith in yourself and God !! Good karmas never fail.

How will this website serve the world ??

This website was intended to bring all the people of the world from all walks of life together to spread the message of peace and compassion and also to come to Dharamsala and experience a personal, healthy balanced growth of the Mind, Body, Heart and your Spirit !

What is your website address?
